Why I'm Neutral In the Casual/hardcore Split.

Every hardcore Nintendo gamers knows about the casual/hardcore split. Hardcore Nintendo gamers whinge and complain that the casual gamers are taking over gaming and that there are no games made for the hardcore gamer anymore. Then, the casual gamer blinks and continues with life, with no queries or qualms over the split.

Now, I do not see all the fuss. Sure, there needs to be more hardcore games. Sure, games like Wii Fit and Gingerbead Man are filling the shelves while games like Pikmin, Mario, Metroid and other hardcore video-games are being shunned and unsold. Sure, we have less games for us.

But look, without the casual gamer, would Nintendo even succeed as far as they have? They are top of the video-game market, with both the DS and the Wii topping sale charts. The casuals have helped us. Sure, they do not 100% complete games, or just play whenever. Sure, they don't actually enjoy gaming like we do. But what I think it is, is that we are not accepting change. These casual gamers will be the hardcore gamers of the future. Casual gaming, in my eyes, is an introduction to gaming. Let them get used to it, and then they can buy hardcore games. Then, hardcore gamers shall thrive once again.

I, personally, am neither a hardcore gamer or a casual gamer. I do not always want to finish everything. I play games for maximum enjoyment, and they are a big chunk of my life. But I am not hardcore. I know I am not a hardcore gamer. But I'm not casual either. I'm in between. So please, don't say I'm being biased.

An interesting article. I can see that the gaming market is aimed at the casual gamer.

While I'm not a gamer, I know your heart is in this. Maybe not so many 'sures'the next time? One shouldn't write exactly as one speaks
